The students of Jinnah University For Women are always engaged in activities which facilitate to nurture their mental and physical health. These measures lead them to remain energetic through out the semester. Several events take place in the university side by side which can involve surveys, debates competitions, festivals, seminars and many more. The same kind of an activity took place in our university  when some students of mass communication department conducted a survey on dietary habits of students in the canteen of JINNAH UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN (JUW) on Wednesday.

Some 81% of the students sitting in the canteen said that they prefer to eat junk food while 19% said that they bring homemade food to eat during university hours.

“Junk food is easy to carry and very much delicious”, said a student.

On the other hand a science student claimed that “since we have classes and labs, we can’t only rely on junk food so we bring homemade food to satisfy our appetite.”

The survey was conducted around 12 am which is the rush hours of canteen.

Rehman Khan the in charge of JUW’s cafeteria said that chicken and spaghetti rolls are the most selling items. He further said that “girls don’t seem to have any issues regarding price list at all. Our sale hasn’t decreased even after the increment in prices.”

When girls were inquired about the prices they said that “in the beginning when prices become high they didn’t like it but then with the passage of time everything becomes normal for us. We can’t resist junk food.”

When the cafe in charge was asked about the lack of sitting area for girls he replied “it is not in our hands this issue lies with the authorities of university.”

The survey conducted by the mass communication students revealed that most of the girls now a days prefer junk food. with the increasing rate of urbanization the trend of cooking home has started diminishing in a particular class of our country. Though junk food can have tremendous awful effects on a person’s health but people simply can’t resist these food items.
